Writers do a lot of research during the development of a story. The Internet is a fantastic source. So is the newspaper along with various books. My favorite is Uncle John's Bathroom Reader from the year 2000. Actually it was started in 1988. Really need to get a more up to date version. However, I am still having a ball rereading this one.
Don't know who the researcher was but it is claimed that Franklin Roosevelt thought up the name "United Nations" in the shower. Can't dispute that because I get some of my best ideas while I'm ironing. Yes, I still do that on a weekly basis.
I have also read that in Colonial America, children ate popcorn with cream and sugar for breakfast. Is anyone around to confirm that.
There are almost as many chickens in the world as there are people. Did you ever wonder about that as you passed deli counters at the grocery store, KFC, Chicfillet???
According to history the Hundred Years/ War lasted 116 years. Wonder who kept count?
Now for the final fact in today's rambling. Pound for pound, earthworms make up half of all animal life.
Hmmm, wonder how I can work that into a story????
