Don't sweat the small stuff

You can't pick up the paper these days without reading about world wide murder and mayhem. Makes you wonder if you should get out of bed in the morning, much less put your foot out the door. Count the number of murders on one page. That is why I prefer to read the odd bits and pieces in the news.

For instance I loved the piece I read about a local group who call themselves ROMEO. The acronym stands for Retired Old Men Eating Out.  You gotta love it. They meet once a week to talk, tell stories (wonder how many are tall tales??) and get away from their wives. Would love to be a fly on the wall around their table. The age group is from age 60-80 so the stories should be good.

One of my other favorites is about a woman in Ohio who broke into a house to clean it. It apparently wasn't a random act of kindness on her part because she left a bill with her name on it. She was arrested for burglary. Haven't heard if she's doing cleaning jobs in the slammer. Where is Paul Harvey when you need him.

Will close with a few bits of information that might be useful when playing Trivial Pursuit:
Thomas Edison was afraid of the dark. (Maybe that's why he worked so hard to invent the light bulb.)
Zoologists say elephants love licorice. (Do they prefer a specific flavor?)
Badminton used to be called "poona". (I can see why the name was changed. Can you?)

Until next time, have a great day.
