Since to blog was on my roundtoit list I am placing my fingers to the keyboard to jot down a few words.
Participated in a fund raiser for Alzheimer's this past weekend. It was held at a local storage facility. That was a first for Gwyn and me. They gave us an extra large area. If we had brought a CD player we could have gotten some line dancing started. However, we were very happy to participate, especially on Sunday when the skies opened and it poured buckets.
There were some interesting vendors. As always there were lots of jewelery vendors. We happened to be across from a gentleman selling candles. His daughter has a candle making business in St. Augustine. Gwyn and I learned a lot about how to burn a candle. Bet you didn't know there was an art to it. First of all, when you want to check out the smell of a jarred candle you smell the inside of the lid. That will give you a clear idea of what the candle will smell like when it is burning. You should also burn a jarred candle for four hours the first time you light it. That way it will burn evenly and you won't a "tunnel" through the middle with the wax clinging to the sides being wasted. He also had a neat gizmo for putting out the flame. According to him a candle snuffer is a no no. This was a sideways thigamig that trimmed the wick at the same time. Guess you would have to see how it worked. Add to that his daughter has 250 fragrances on her list. I liked the raspberry one in a martini glass.
The other interesting vendor was the gentleman who sold liquid worms...in a spray bottle. He explained that they were wonderful for the flowers and that my plants would be free of bugs. I have to admit I drew the line at asking him how he made the stuff, but I didn't see a blender anywhere.
That's all for now.
