I usually have a set time to write but the schedule has been disrupted because his Lordship is out of town and in addition to normal household chores I have dog duty. Wouldn't be bad with one, but we have two and they do miss him taking them for a walk. Walking is good and I am all for it but he takes both at one time which I am unable to do.
Ah you say, leave one at home and walk them separately. Easier said than done. Last time I tried that the retriever sprung the door and yowled and yapped so loud I could hear her the entire time I Mr. Jack out.
Mr. Jack is a handful. He weighs 110 pounds and is built low and husky. BUT when he decides he's going to chase a rabbit, Katy bar the door. Last time he did that I wasn't paying attention and ended up with a broken collar bone. Totally my fault.
Now how can I use that in a story. Mmmmm, she says, tapping her chin with her finger. There must be a way. Mr. Jack said he sure hoped so because I used Blondi, the retriever, in my latest book, Aglow Again, and she is naughty. Now he wants a book of his own. Alas, he is such a gentle soul I am sure I will find a way.
In the meantime I am counting the days until I can put the shovel away and give up dog duty.
