Happy St. Patrick's Day

Here it is March 17th and I wish to greet all my readers with a bright and cheery Top of the morning to you and Happy St. Patrick's Day.

I always think of my mother on St. Patrick's Day. She always claimed to be Irish (on her mother's side) and only related to her father through marriage. I remember back in the day when priest's still made house calls and Monsignore Gallagher stopped by and saw my mother all decked out in green. He wanted to know why someone with a German last name (my father of German decent) was celebrating St. Patrick's day and she told him that we didn't even drink orange juice on St. Patrick's day. However, I do not recall my mother ever making corned beef and cabbage.

As for that dish there is a pot boiling on the stove and it smell delicious.

So I will leave you by saying, may the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back...and when you die may you be in heaven and hour before the devil knows your gone.
