Friday the 13th

Some folks are very superstitious about this date but not yours truly. Actually, today is the anniversary of a BIG event in our area. It is the 6th anniversary of Hurricane Charley. Talk about survival! We had very little notice of the storm's approach so there was literally not time to evacuate. Luckily I had my emergency kit all set and ready to go. Plan: go to the inside bathroom on the first floor (no windows), take one jar of peanut butter, a box of crackers and a bottle of white wine.

Did I stay in there and eat up and wash down! Of course not. When the winds hit I was so curious I went from window to window to watch what was happening. After looking out front I shouted to my husband, "There goes the big oak tree". I went up stairs to look out over the area and called to him, "There goes the roof". We spent the conclusion of the storm throwing our weight against the front door to keep it from blowing in. Have you ever seen or experienced glass breathing?

I am hoping that is going to be a once in a lifetime experience for me. As for today, the sun is shining, there are no storms in the Gulf at the moment and only a 42% chance rain. Man they can get precise with predictions these days.
