Good heavens. Saw the date on my last blog and had to wonder where the time has gone. It is not that I don't want to blog. I do. I get these great ideas when I'm mopping the floor or ironing or getting read to go to sleep, but then the thought is gone by the time I get a chance to sit at the computer.
However, today my topic is love bugs and I don't mean the cute kind like Herbie. I'm talking about real bugs. Here in Florida they come to visit us twice a year. Thank goodness their visit is short but not short enough.
This past Friday I drove to Orlando with my friend, Gwyn, to present a workshop on writing. By the time we got there my car was covered with love bug guts. Yes indeed I did not mince words. Those pesky critters love to splatter themselves all over your vehicle and they are really difficult to get off. And you must get them off because they will pit the finish on your car. As soon as I got home on Saturday evening his Lordship and I got to work. He manned the scrub brush and I handled the hose. It took a lot of elbow grease to get the car cleaned.
Then it was on to the windshield. I cleaned that today for the third time. While I was doing that with newspaper in hand I thought about my friend, Francine, a Pennsylvania girl. She is the only other person I've met who uses newspaper to clean glass. The only negative side to using newspaper is trying to clean your hands afterwards. Never thought to use rubber gloves.
Well, folks, now you have my "love bug" story and I'm sticking to it (groan out loud).
